Marketing Strategy San Diego CA
What is a “Marketing Strategy” ; simply put it is the strategy that lays out a plan to support your sells effort. It spells out to whom you will sell, what you will sell, what price you will sell your product or service for and under what conditions. Your “Marketing Strategy” also determines who will sell and through what medium or in person. Part of your “Marketing Strategy” will also be to determine how to generate sales leads , how your sales team will be organized and how they will be compensated. In many companies these decisions are made by the Sales department and can cause a conflict of interest.
Ideally a “Marketing Strategy”is developed as part of a “Strategic Planning” process, but can be done after or without a “Strategic Planning” process. When I am asked to develop a “Marketing Strategy” for a company it becomes a totally co-operative process. I will involve all of the responsible management personnel , as well as the key producers and marketing personnel in the development of the strategy.
The first step in developing the “Marketing Strategy” is to meet with the Senior management team to clearly layout the numeric and regional goals of the company. With that in hand I like to use an analysis of the current customer data base to determine what our past customers have been buying, from whom, where are they located and what method have used to purchase. We should also be able to find what lead sources have produced these results. There is other information we will be able to gather from existing data that will help in formulating our “Marketing Strategy”. With this information we can superimpose it on the regions we want to penetrate to see how much more room we have to go to meet our goal, also how room we have for expansion. You can begin to see how I work without my giving away the whole process.
